Styling Photo Shoots in Stockholm, The Nitty- Gritty of Pre-Production, and Lots of Coffee

For this week’s edition of Dandy Day, we got a glimpse into the styling universe of Hanna MW, a Stockholm-based stylist and creative consultant.

I first noticed Hanna on Instagram and was captivated by her clean and chic approach to photography and style, which culls inspiration from the seemingly overlooked aspects of everyday life and most importantly: the small details. From styling New York Fashion Week to editorial photoshoots and scrappy at-home social content, Hanna has developed a signature style that harmonizes sophistication and elegance with a Dandy aura of laid-back cool.

Okay! Now it’s time to walk through a day in the life of Hanna!

7:00 am:

I always wake up by myself before my alarm goes off around 7:20 am. Then, unfortunately the first thing I do is check my phone. After that, I jump right out of bed and make coffee--I really need my coffee in the morning! Then I wake up my boyfriend Jimmy and we watch the morning news together while we drink coffee in bed. It’s kind of our ritual. After the news I always put music on. We always have music playing at our house.

8:30 am:After getting ready for the day with Frank Ocean playing in the background, I take some time to structure my day ahead. The day before a big shoot, I always write a to-do list with what needs fixing so that I’m fully ready for the production aspect. 10:00 am:It’s always rather hectic before a production, since a lot of the clothes and accessories can arrive last minute. So I usually take time to put the final looks together the day prior and sometimes re-do a few looks since a few more items have usually arrived.

11.00 am:

Typically we’ll have a pre-production meeting with the team and go through some last-minute details, mood and the full agenda.

12.00 pm:

I actually like to eat lunch alone to get some quality time with myself. My go-to lunch is either my favorite caesar salad with kale or a good bowl of ramen.

2.00 pm:

Now I have a last catch up with my stylist assistant that helps me before a big production. We go through the to do-list to make sure we have everything in place.

4.00 pm:

I go for a walk n’ talk with a friend with a cappuccino to-go.

6.00 pm:

When I get home, I check my email and get some other work done and shoot some content for my social media channels with my boyfriend.

8.00 pm:

Dinner time! Usually we order something in because we’re typically tired from a long workday, but when we cook we always go for some kind of pasta dish. It’s the best there is!

9.00 pm:

Then, Jimmy and I spend some quality time together and watch the evening news and a series.

12.00 am:

I do my skincare routine, brush my teeth and jump into bed with a relaxing podcast. Then I drift off and prepare for a new day.
